Earlier this year British government announced their new Illegal Migration Bill, which in its core is trying to tackle arrivals on the small boats. Offering detention and deportation, making asylum application process inaccessible and stripping off of any rights of appeal. Instead of planning (in collaboration with other governments), new safe routes and passages there is costly scheme of so called security put in place. The bill is still being discussed as is possibly (and more likely) breaking international laws and conventions. The solution may be in building longer tables...not higher walls.
The month of June brought another tragedy on Greek shores where more than 700 lives (including 100 children) were lost...this could be easily avoided if the mindset of scapecoating is changed...no one is illegal and no one wants to be a refugee...
